THE HIGHEST HILL IN BOHEMIAN PARADISE

SYCHROV CHATEAU, KOZÁKOV HILL, DRÁBOVNA, MOON VALLEY, SCOOTER RIDE FROM MALÁ SKÁLA TO DOLÁNKY

We will visit the Gothic Revival-style Sychrov chateau, where you can see many rare collections, including French portrait paintings and etched and painted Bohemian glass from the 18th and 19th centuries. You can also admire the English park surrounding the chateau.

From Sychrov you will be driven to the top of Kozákov – the highest hill in the Bohemian Paradise, where you will see Riegr ́s Tourist Chalet built in 1928. In 1993, a metal tower was added, whose gallery is used as a lookout. From Kozákov, you will have a unique view overlooking most of the Bohemian Paradise, part of the Jizera Mountains as well as part of the Giant Mountains, Trosky ruins, Vyskeř Hill, Hrubá Skála chateau, Mount Ještěd and more. Apart from the chalet and lookout, Kozákov offers further tourist attractions on its slopes. On the western side, high in the slope, there is the block of Drábovna. A little room is carved in the robust rock: perhaps it used to be a keep. At the lower part of the hill, there is Moon Valley with pseudo-karstic caves named Babí and Kudrnáčova Pec.

We will enjoy a pleasant forest walk from the top of Kozákov, passing Drábovna and Moon Valley, to Mírová pod Kozákovem, from where you will be driven to MALÁ SKÁLA – a picturesque village on the banks of the Jizera under the slopes of the Vranov Ridge and Sokol Hill. It is a tourism centre as well as a starting point for treks, scooter and bicycle rides, or boat and raft adventures. The village boasts a number of homesteads of the Jizera region type, the best-known of which is Bouček ́s Farmstead, where you will have the opportunity to taste delicious Czech cuisine. Greenway Jizera is an attractive and safe path running along the river, ideal for a walk or bike ride, roller skating or scooter riding. It follows the same route as the boat/raft trip.

CHILL OUT SCOOTER TRIP (about 7 kilometers)

A scooter ride on Greenway Jizera is easy and undemanding. You will go along the river from Malá Skála to Dolánky. During your trip you will see wide meadows with grazing sheep and cows.

In Dolánky, you can visit DLASK ́S FARM which is a former farmstead and a village magistrate’s office built in 1716 – a typical example of a building from the Jizera region. The building houses permanent exhibitions of the Museum of the Bohemian Paradise dedicated to rural dwellings and agricultural tools.
