DREAM DAY

RUINS OF TROSKY CASTLE, KOST CASTLE, LOCAL ATMOSPHERIC RESTAURANT SKÁLA (“THE ROCK”), MNICHOVO HRADIŠTĚ CHATEAU

Let us take you to the amazing Bohemian Paradise – a UNESCO Geopark. You will be picked up in your hotel and driven to the Bohemian Paradise, situated about 100 km northeast from Prague. The journey takes approx. 1-1.5 hours.

On the way you will see the rock fortress Drábské Světničky, Valdštejn castle and Hrubá Skála chateau. We will pass the town Turnov to reach the famous Trosky ruins. Trosky is considered the symbol or landmark of Bohemian Paradise for its unique appearance and origin.

From the car park, it is a mere 500 m walk through a forest to the castle gate. From the main courtyard we can either climb to the lookout point under the Panna tower (59 m) or to the other side to the Baba tower (49 m) – or we can do both. You can admire not only the sweeping views from the top of the towers, but also the restoration works which have uncovered the sophisticated technical design of the castle. You can enjoy stunning views of the Bohemian Paradise in all directions – the Humprecht chateau, Kozákov – the highest point of the Bohemian Paradise, Vyskeř Hill and Hrubá Skála chateau.

The canyon valleys under the Trosky castle hide a group of eight ponds. We will stop by a pond for a picnic. There is a nature reserve (peat bog) called Rašeliniště Vidlák. After the refreshments, you will be driven to the Kost castle, which lies in an attractive landscape of forests and sandstone rocks, aptly called the Bohemian Paradise due to its charm. Kost is one of the few remaining medieval castles in the Czech Republic and is considered the second most important. You can choose one of the castle tours or just enjoy the splendid views and the surrounding landscape.

Restaurant Skála (The Rock) is a unique restaurant carved into a rock. You can enjoy typical Czech cuisine and local beer tasting in this unconventional place. You will be impressed by the uniqueness of this restaurant, including the atmosphere, the historical interiors.

On the way to the Kost castle, we will stop by the Mnichovo Hradiště chateau. During this short stop you will see the chateau exteriors and St. Ann ́s Chapel – the place where Albrecht von Wallenstein was laid to rest.

Castle Kost

Kost Castle lies in an attractive landscape of forests and sandstone rocks, which because of its charm is rightly called Bohemian Paradise. I stands on a low promontory above ponds whose dams were release in times of danger, turning the castle it into a water fortress. In time when war threatened, the lord of the castle retreated with his family to the top floor of the solidly built white tower.
